The Chalk Hill AVA is located east of Windsor in the northeast corner of the Russian River AVA. The chalk white, volcanically-derived soils result in white wines, particularly Sauvignon Blanc, with distinct mineral flavors. In addition, the region is warmer than the surrounding Russian River Valley due to its elevation above the fog line.
