The Review
Su Vino Winery provides a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere in Grapevine where the gracious staff guides you through their selections and shows you how to create your own personal blend.
The Place:  At the north end of Main Street in historic downtown Grapevine, Su Vino resides inside a small brick building with dark wood paneling and burgundy walls. Parking is available in back, but this is a small venue with a simple bar and just a handful of tables to accommodate. Fermentation tanks sit next to you near the seating area of oak barrel tables, allowing you to get close to the process. The room doubles as a gift shop with several crafted wines on display as well as wine related merchandise from whimsical wine stoppers of stiletto heels to funny wine related signs like A Wine A Day Keeps The Doctor Away. Su Vino is a fun winery that doesnt take itself too seriously.
The Experience:  As we entered, we were immediately greeted by a staff member and led to a window seat next to the tanks. The staff at Su Vino go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and love to suggest their favorite wines. They offer good pairing advice for the generous appetizer plates the winery offers. On the day of our visit, the bar was full and the servers were working the room with great energy and passion. They loved their work and delighted in making us happy to return. The winery carries through with its quirky spin with fun offerings like the Cheeky Monkey, a pineapple and banana Viogneir, and the Tipsy Red Reindeer, a holiday mulled wine.
The Wines:  Owner David Scott gets most of his juice from California and works with Shannon Abbot, the onsite vintner, to create their selections. Visitors receive four wines per tasting for $6 or $10 if you want to keep the glass. Their new vintage Wrangler Reserve Red is a wonderful blend of Merlot, Cab, Malbec, and Syrah and a steal for $20 as is the Bella Rosa, another red blend that can be paired with virtually any dish for $21. Pick up their Summer Rain, a green apple Riesling for just $10.50. Ports and sparkling whites are crafted here as well and begin at $17. A six bottle purchase entitles you to a 10% discount as well as a complimentary wine tote.
Insiders Tip:  Su Vino offers both custom wine and label making. If youve never tried your hand at wine-making, the knowledgeable staff can walk you through the entire process. You will end up with a wine as unique as you are with 30 bottle pricing beginning at less than $200. There is also Club Vino, a quarterly subscription that entitles you to two bottles from $25 as well as other discounts at the store.
