The San Antonio Valley is located in the Santa Lucia Range in the southernmost part of Monterey County. Although the area is warmer than most of the rest of the Salinas Valley, it does experience cooling Pacific Ocean breezes in the evening and fog from Lake San Antonio in the morning. Viticulture was introduced to the area in the 1770s by the Padres at the San Antonio Mission and was resurrected in the 1990s by the late John Gill of Lockwood Valley Vineyards.
