Potter Valley is a relaxed, rural area located northeast of Lake Mendocino and about ten miles northeast of Ukiah in a remote high altitude, mountain valley. Although Potter Valley is a rich agricultural area with wine grapes being one of the major crops, there are only two wineries: McFadden Vineyards (tasting by appt.) and Naughty Boy Vineyards (not open for tasting). Potter Valley grapes are routinely used in wines made in other locations, with top wineries such as Chateau Montelina, Dashe Cellars and Hagafen making very good wines from Potter Valley grapes.
