The Linganore American Viticultural Area (AVA) is located on the Piedmont Plateau northwest of Baltimore and includes parts of Frederick and Carroll counties. The region, established as Maryland’s first AVA in 1983, is bordered by the Appalachian Mountains to the west and the coastal plain to the east. There are five Linganore wineries within the AVA’s 90 square miles, three of which are located along Liberty Road between Libertytown and Westminster.
