Knights Valley is located about six miles east of Healdsburg and five miles northwest of Calistoga. Due to its location and altitude, Knights Valley does not experience direct Pacific Ocean influences and is Sonoma’s warmest AVA. In addition to excellent wines produced by the Peter Michael Winery, non-resident wineries such as Pax, Kendall-Jackson, Pelton House, Anakota, and Beringer produce highly rated wines using Knights Valley grapes. Knights Valley red wines are typically rich and full-bodied and display flavors of black fruit, currant, licorice, chocolate, cassis, and earth. With just a few wineries in this relatively isolated area, make sure to call and schedule an appointment before visiting.
