The Cucamonga Valley is a warm climate AVA located in San Bernandino and Los Angeles County approximately 45 miles east of Los Angeles. The area’s vineyard history dates to back to 1838 but has been experiencing continuous pressure from urbanization and suburban sprawl. The area grows a wide range of grapes such as Carrignane, Cinsault, Grenache, Mourvedre and Zinfandel. The hot California climate typically produced full bodied, rich, jammy wines. The area has a couple of wineries, Galleano and Joseph Filippi, open for tasting. Non-resident winery Carol Shelton also produces exceptional wines with Cucamonga Valley Zinfandel grapes.
