The Augusta American Viticultural Area (AVA), established in 1980, was the first federally approved AVA. Its boundaries lie within the larger Ozark Mountain AVA, and its vineyards were first planted in the region in the 1880. The AVA contains a limited number of wineries but they all provide wine tasting opportunities.
