The Review
A boutique franchise winery in downtown Grapevine, DVine Wine puts a unique spin on the wine experience.
The Place:  In a narrow brick storefront on historicMain Street, DVine Wine is a pleasant retreat from the crowds that flock downtown on weekends. The winery’s urban location, though, provides ready access to the charming shops that line the street. The tasting room evokes a Tuscan feel. With the long tasting bar on your left and many bottles of crafted wine to choose from on your right, the oblong room feels cozy, perfect for taking a seat and relaxing with a good glass. Oak barrels and steel fermentation tanks at the back of the main room, while somewhat hidden, give a glimpse into the operation. The golden walls with track lighting glow gently, creating an informal, friendly atmosphere to sit and enjoy that glass or two.
The Experience:  As we entered, owner David Besgrave greeted us and began sharing his passion about wine and the process of wine-making. He enjoyed explaining the idea of DVine Wines and what is possible. When asked what his favorite is, he simply smiled and said It changes with the season. Visitors flock to this small winery, so expect crowds, especially on weekends. But, at this winery, the packed house only adds to the fun of the experience as visitors share their picks for the best wines to taste. At DVine, the tastings are informal and fun with a touch of humor.
The Wines:  At DVine, they dont grow their own grapes but instead purchase the juices to create custom blends. Nothing is off limits and David prides himself on the many variations possible. From their Sunset, with a fresh peach taste for $15, to their Vintners Reserve Ports for $30, each wine is unique. There are many fruit concoctions to cool off with during the long, hot days of summer as well. We enjoyed a tasting of three wines for $5 and found a favorite in the Vintners Select Pinot Grigio for $15. Others might like the seasonal Chairmans Reserve Bordeaux Blend, aged in oak for one year, or the popular Select Sauvignon Blanc for $15.
Insiders Tip:  If you have ever wanted to create your own wine, DVine is the place to do it. David will help you personalize a wine just for you, including your own label. After fermentation is complete, you can even come back and help bottle and cork. This is an experience you cant get with most wineries and is a great way to savor and remember your experience. There is a 15% discount with a 6 bottle purchase and a 20% discount with a 12 bottle purchase as well as daily specials. DVine also offers a wonderful experience for private events like wedding and baby showers, birthdays, and holiday parties.
