The Review
Lamoreaux Landing Wine Cellars is a sleek, modern, and elegant winery that makes wines in a style that very much reflects the tasting rooms aesthetics. With a focus on Bordeaux-style reds, Riesling, and sparkling wines, this is a very European-minded winemaking venture in the heart of The Finger Lakes region.
The Place:  Lamoreaux Landing Wine Cellars is one of the regions youngest wineries, and offers picturesque views of Seneca Lake. The cordial and professional approach to the winerys tastings makes the experience a little more formal but also comes with extras like wine-and-cheese pairings and chocolate flights. For private groups, there is a lovely glass-walled room off the main tasting space with indoor-grown citrus trees, small tables, and gorgeous views.
The Wines:  The winery offers estate bottled Pinot Noir, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc no Lemberger here! Their Bordeaux-styled blend, 76 West, is a standout among the regions reds rich, aromatic, complex, and plush though it is made in small quantities so if its already sold-out it may not be available. Lamoreaux Landing is also one of the few wineries to make a semi-dry Gewurztraminer that is absolutely worth trying, and offers a wide range of vineyard-specific Rieslings that offer a unique lesson in the regions terroir.
Extras:  The winery offers a number of gourmet tasting experiences that focus on artisanally crafted local cheeses and chocolates. There is no café on-site, but the winery boasts impressive grounds that afford gorgeous views and are dotted with picnic tables if youd like to pack your own lunch.
Insiders Tip:  If theres no group scheduled to be in the private tasting room off the side, ask whether you and your group may have a tasting in there. The room is flooded with sunlight, striking views, and charming décor. They also offer a Special Tasting that includes samplings of their Sparkling, Dessert, and Library wines (wines of past vintages that are no longer available) for an extra $2/person thats worth shelling out for.
