The Review
Anthony Road is one of the best Riesling producers in the Finger Lakes, with an innovative approach to winemaking that showcases just how great the regions wines can be.
The Place:  Anthony Road is situated on the west shore of Seneca Lake in a well-populated stretch that makes it an easy place to stop in if youre trying to hit a few different wineries in a single day. The Visitor Center is located directly next to the winery and surrounded by a charming garden with views looking out over the vineyards and Seneca Lake.
The Experience:  Anthony Road Wine Company is run by a group of dedicated, professional, and friendly individuals who are truly committed to showcasing the regions best wines. The tasting room itself is dated and in desperate need of an update and renovation, but the winerys surroundings and charming gardens make up for it. Although Anthony Road makes some of the regions best Rieslings, they also make easy-drinking and approachable wines for the casual wine drinker made from grapes like Vignoles, Cayuga White, and Rougeon.
The Wines:  The wines bottled under the Anthony Road Wine company label are some of the best being produced in the region. The winemakers take a more innovative and progressive approach to winemaking especially with the wines bottled under the Martini-Reinhardt Selection Series. These wines feature labels designed by local artists and retail for a higher price but are well worth it. The Trockenbeeren selections especially (dessert wines) are absolutely exceptional and come with a hefty price tag. The Cabernet Franc Rose and Cabernet Franc/Lemberger blend are other wonderful selections from The Anthony Road Wine Company with a more approachable price.
Extras: Anthony Road Wine Company really has a wine to please everyone. They make some of the best Riesling and dessert wines for the sophisticated and perhaps snobby wine taster, but they also make crowd-pleasing wines for the novice or casual drinker. In particular, their Tonys Red, the winerys most popular wine, has scores of devotees. The building itself may be a little out-of-date, but the beautiful gardens and views more than make up for it. If you are travelling and tasting with a group that is mixed in experience-level, Anthony Road is an especially good choice.
Insiders Tip:  Make sure to try the slightly upscale Martin-Reindhardt Selections for a taste of some of the most innovative winemaking in the region. They use the best quality grapes, natural yeasts, and other exciting techniques that produce wines that are truly exceptional.
