The Review
Addison Farms Vineyard is located off the beaten path in mountainous Leicester, North Carolina. However, the location is only about thirty minutes from the popular city destination of Asheville. If youre looking for something to do in the area on a raining afternoon, or for a little exploring in the rural area, this might be the place. The drive to the winery is beautifully scenic; youll get a glimpse of what country living is really about. However, the coarse gravel driveway to the winery might be a deterrent if you drive a low car that might drag.
Experience:  The area surrounding the vineyard and tasting room is amazing! The landscape is an experience itself. More than four acres of grapevines surround the facility and beyond the vines are forest and a vast mountain range. The outside has a covered deck area with a stone fireplace and nice upholstered outdoor seating. The building was built in 2012 so you can still smell and feel the newness when you walk in. The building is divided into two sections, and art and many windows create a bright and lively atmosphere. The left segment is open and minimalist, but has a fireplace – which matches the outside one – and dual couch seating. The right segment features the standing tasting area. If you must sit there is a small two top table that could be accommodating. The entire complex offers unparalleled, panoramic views of the vineyard and Blue Ridge Mountains.
Tasting:  The five wines available for tasting – all dry – display a common hint of spice. The names of each of the wines and their labels have an appealing story that Jeff is likely to convey during your visit. The winery itself is very new and so is the winemaking process. Unfortunately, none of the wines really stand out as extraordinary, and Jeff confessed that he isnt much of a wine drinker himself.
Overall/Pricing: The Frisbee Family offers tours of the grand facility upon mention. A tasting, which includes an attractive, large logo engraved wine glass, is $8. If you would like a glass of wine, in addition to your tasting, it can be purchased for an additional $7. The price per bottle starts at $13 and goes up to $24. The well designed building and lovely surrounding lands of Addison Farms, vice the wines, are currently the main reasons to visit the winery. The winery is an ideal setting for a wedding or private party.
