The Review
The impressive grounds of Crossing Vineyards & Winery welcome guests looking for a true wine tasting experience.
The Place:  Arriving on a Saturday afternoon to a full parking lot, I was immediately impressed by the look and feel of Crossing Vineyards & Winery and expected to be wowed by the winery and tasting room. Inside, guests are ushered through the gift shop and enter into what looks like the fermentation room for tastings. Surrounded by high-tech equipment and large barrels, its easy to feel like you are standing inside the inner workings of a well-oiled machine.
The Experience:  Compared to smaller wineries on the Bucks County Wine Trail, Crossings feels a bit more sterile. Employees alternate between groups of guests, pouring small samples of wine and briefly explaining the grape varietals used and tasting notes. Though visiting on a Saturday and expecting a bit of lag time between pours, I was still surprised by just how long we waited for an employee to pour our next sample between each wine. For those that love to make small talk with employees, or with the owners of a winery, this is certainly not the place.
The Wines:  For an $8 per person tasting fee, guests can sample 10 of the wineries red and white wines during the standard tasting. Starting with the whites, none of the selections really stood out, and many were much sweeter than what I personally prefer. The reds were not much better, although the Pinot Noir Reserve did have some nice personality. Bottles range in price from $12 for the Blush to $40 for the Late Harvest Vidal Blanc.
Insiders Tip:  If you want a good tasting experience, visit on a weekday instead of a weekend when employees will have more time to spend explaining the winery and wines. Crossings is a popular place for special events, with many large parties reserving space in the tasting room on weekends.
