The Review
Rose Bank Winery is what all wineries should be like inviting, friendly and stocked with great wine.
The Place: Driving past a historic, stone home to the Rose Bank Winery tasting room, you immediately get a feel for what this small winery has to offer. Its evident from the workers walking around outside and the friendly greetings that Rose Bank is run by a family that truly loves their business. While construction was going on during my visit on Saturday afternoon, this can only mean good things for the future of the winery.
The Experience: Walking into the barn-like tasting room, the place was abuzz with employees setting up for what looked like a birthday party later that evening. The tasting takes place in one corner of the large space, where guests congregate to sip and mingle. I was warmly greeted by one of the owners who explained how the tastings work and handed me a custom glass. The wines sat in labeled troughs around the semi-circle tasting area, eagerly waiting to be poured at my leisure. Around 20 wines were present, ranging from dry whites to rich reds. I felt at ease to browse the gift shop as I pleased while sipping on some great Southeastern Pennsylvania wines.
The Wines: For a $6 per person tasting fee, guests can sample all of the wines that the winery produces. I started with the whites and was pleasantly surprised by the refreshing Vidal Blanc. I found some of the other whites a little too sweet for my taste. I was particularly fond of Rose Bank Winerys 100% Fruit Wines, which included interesting choices like the Pomegranate, Blackberry and Acai Berry. They also have an interesting Chocolate Orange Port that tastes more like a dessert than a wine.
Insiders Tip: Take advantage of the leisurely tasting at Rose Bank Winery by spending ample time in the tasting room. With no rush from employees pouring out wine selections and no huge crowd like youll find at larger area wineries, you can easily spend an hour or two here enjoying each wine.
