The Review
As the popularity of limo wine tasting shows no sign of slowing down in Temecula, some wineries have begun to adapt their wineries to this popular way to enjoy wine. Miramonte winery is one of these wineries. With reserved limo parking spots, and a tasting room that resembles the inside of a nightclub, this is more a place for those looking for excitement and fun, than it is for serious wine connoisseurs.
The Place:  The winery is perched on the highest point of a hill and provides good views of the nearby wine country. A large outdoor seating area is well appointed and complete with misters for those warmer days. Inside, bar top tables without seating fill the area, and couches line the tasting area. A small stage sits in the corner and disco lights remained off for our day trip, but allude to one heck of a party that could go on there. Those who brought their pets found they could participate from the patio area with the use of a drive through type window to the bar; dog owners simply reached their wine glass through the window for their next taste.
The Experience:  The trek from the parking lot to the winery proved to be a short thigh burning experience. Once inside, I found a scene normally reserved for swanky nightclubs. Customers lounged on the couches and a small stage sat in the corner of the tasting room. To round out the nightclub atmosphere, I had to elbow and wiggle my way up to the bar to get the wine tasting rolling. Miramonte was the only winery we visited that day that had more than one person working, but it was also the most crowded. Nonetheless the customers seemed to be enjoying themselves. The staff delivered the requisite wine description as they poured, but no one seemed to be paying attention.
The Wines: Wine tasting is $15 for six tastes, and you dont get to keep the glass. The whites include Chardonnay, a Riesling, and a couple different kinds of rose. The red wines provide a variety of choices, from ports to sangria to Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. With such a variety of wines to choose from it was hit or miss finding a wine that pleased my palette.
Insiders Tip:  Miramonte offers a broad selection of activities, from tours of the vineyard to live music every Friday and Saturday. Miramonte is equipped to hold weddings, receptions, and private events with 10,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor event space. The Miramonte wine club is called Club Simple, and offers private events known as SimpleSocial along with the standard wine discounts. While the limo tours certainly seem to be encouraged at Miramonte, you will need to make a reservation prior to your arrival which can be done online.
